Gathering in Amsterdam for a peaceful march and symbolic demonstration

On 22 February 2026, ahead of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian veterans — including wounded veterans undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in the Netherlands — gathered in Amsterdam for a peaceful march and symbolic demonstration.

Starting at Museumplein and continuing to Dam Square, veterans carried mirror banners displaying the message “This is who we protect.” The mirrors reflected the people of Amsterdam and the city itself, highlighting that Ukraine’s defence is also about protecting freedom, security, and democratic values across Europe.

At Dam Square, veterans formed a 30-metre-long mirror wall as part of a powerful visual flash mob, creating a striking public statement about solidarity, resilience, and shared responsibility for safeguarding European homes.

The flashmob was organised by NL4UA, the Netherlands for Ukraine Foundation.

The march and peaceful demonstrations were organised by Maidan to Dam and Ukrainians in the Netherlands.
